Nigeria Assures the Republic of Sierra Leone of Technical Assistance As Amb. Omaku Meets Sierra Leone Minister of Health. The Federal Republic of Nigerian has again reiterated it Commitments in assisting the Republic of Sierra Leone improve on it healthcare system in the country. Nigeria High Commissioner to the Republic of Sierra Leone His Excellency Amb. Henry John Omaku, fcim (Giwan Doma) made this known today when he visited the Sierra Leonean Minister of Health and Sanitation Dr. Austin Demby in his office. Omaku said the visit was to reassured the Minister of Nigeria's readiness to send in more volunteers of the Technical Aids Corps (TAC) into the country to assist in curtailing the health challenges in the rural areas.

Amb. Omaku said the provision of the TAC country agreement raises the level of bilateral assistance to Sierra Leone and is partly in furtherance of a cardinal objective of citizens' diplomacy. He said the agreement is critical to manpower development and is also a clear indication that the Nigeria TAC scheme is achieving its set objectives. While assuring the Minister of Nigeria's continue support to Sierra Leone, Omaku said Nigeria has acceded to the new request of the government of Sierra Leone with the deployment of another batch of TAC volunteers. Other areas of assistance to the country according to Omaku is on Education and training of Sierra Leonean personnel in disaster management.

Responding, Sierra Leonean minister of Health and Sanitation Dr. Austin Demby who appreciated the High Commissioner for the visit said, Nigeria has always stood by Sierra Leone in most difficult periods. He said it is not surprising that as the country move through different periods of health challenges, Nigeria has always been there for them. He on behalf of the government and people of Sierra Leone thanked the High Commissioner for the sectors chosen to assist where they have problems in terms of United Nations social indicators.
